Question:

Are there any non-drug methods I could use to get rid of these awful Bactrim side-effects?

I have been on Bactrim for about three days now for a urinary tract infection. The first day I took it, nothing happened, the second day however, was followed by lovely late-afternoon vomiting and nausea. The third day I had the worst headache ever, with the same sensation of nausea. I refused to take it today after doing my research and finding that these symptoms are in fact the most common side-effects of Bactrim. Even though I haven't taken it today, I still feel like crap. Is there any way besides Motrin which isn't helping at all to get rid of this head ache?

Answer:

You need to call your doctor, because you are having a sensitivity to the drug if not an allergy to it. They took me off Bactrim/Sulfa drugs just because I would get headaches after two days of treatment. And they list it as an allergy now when I am admitted to the hospital. And your headache is also because of your UTI. Try ice packs and lay down in a dark, quiet room. Also take the Motrin.
It's probably best to just let time go by and you'll feel better. But I assume Bactrim is an antibiotic, and you're usually supposed to not just stop taking antibiotics
