Question:

Are there Unordinary AC motors out there ?

I know that Watt, RPM Torque are connected each others, but, with the same RPM Watt, are there unordinary electric motors out there that have very higher torque than ordinary motors ( especially 220v 1 phase AC motors ) ?Can someone give me the website address about it ?

Answer:

Motors can be fitted with speed reducers to increase torque, but of course the speed goes down. Motors are motors; there is no such thing as an unordinary motor.

Mechanical Power (watts) = Torque (newton-meters) X Speed (RPM) / 9549 That says that you can not have more torque without reducing speed or increasing power. There are motors that are unusual. AC motors can be constructed with more than the usual 2, 4 or 6 magnetic poles. An AC motor with more poles run at a slower speed and produces a higher torque. The physical size of an AC motor is determined more by torque than power. Multipole, high-torque motors tend to be larger and more expensive than ordinary motors with attached gear boxes.
