Question:

Are wheels universal?

Are wheels universal? Is it possible to put ford wheels on a corolla? (both 5 lug)

Answer:

No. Bolt pattern makes a difference ( most common are 5x100mm or 5x112mm ) as well as the offset of the rims.
Some are some are not. I have put BMW wheels on a Honda. Dodge on a Ford. Best bet is to 1 measure them to see if they fit or 2 try changing them to see if they fit. You also have to make sure the wheel doesn't interfer with the brake caliper.
NO, wheels are not universal... although most wheels are 5 lug, you still have to take into consideration the bolt pattern. for example: 5-100 is the bolt pattern for an '08 corolla 5-114 is the bolt pattern for an '08 mustang
no they are not universal, and there are so many variables beyond the amount of holes. 5 lug ford uses 1/2 inch studs, Chevy 7/16 studs, corolla metric studs, also the pattern (example) ford 4 1/2 on center, Chevy 4 on center, the center hole that sets on a lip to keep center is different diameter, and last but not least the off set may be off too much and rub the inner or outer tire well. stay with what is correct to your car and be safe
every wheel has it's own specific measurement. The man things you need to check are: bolt pattern, usually written as 5x100, 4x100, 5x114 This tells you if you can even bolt your wheels on. the offset determines how far the wheel face is offset from the bolts, this affects how much they stick out. If the offset is wrong you could blow your bearings $$$ the size, usually written like 18x7.5 or 16x6 is telling you the diameter and width of the wheels, If they are too big or too wide they may rub on your wheel wells or reduce your turning radius. If I were you I would check out a few forums about your car and find out the bolt pattern, offset, and size that works the best. Good Luck!
