Can Chinese carbon wheels perform as good as American ccarbon like zipp, sram etc. I hear Chinese carbon has quality wheels depending who you buy it from.
Risky at best. Many times they use left-over molds & left-over carbon fiber other companies have deemed to be too old or past their shelf life.
it;s your life..... considering that even the best carbon wheels decay, fatigue, crack, split, fail, and have a sell-by date, you want to also add the mystery-chinese factor too, while descending at 60 mph? i wouldn;t have carbon wheels at all, much less chinese I hear Chinese carbon has quality wheels depending who you buy it from. CAN Chinese wheels be as good as others? Yes. Can the average person determine which Chinese wheel is as good as the others? No. China makes more CF bicycle parts than all others combined. They have the experience to build extremely high quality stuff and also have experience to make something look good that isn't so hot. Unfortunately, most people that consider buying direct from China really don't consider much of anything outside of weight, appearance and price... this is a dangerous thing to do especially if the limit of research is to parrot what the advertisement says. There IS one (and only one) China-direct company that I would trust, but even then it takes considerable knowledge to work out which product you need. Um, I was going to mention the name but my sense of liability kicked in. Do yourself a favor. Spend a few months (not minutes or days or weeks) and read everything you can about CF wheels in general and provide a baseline for your decisions. If, after you have done this, you believe you can choose a wheel sight-unseen (except by a photo) then go for it.
