I hate when people do this as long as everyone shovels their cars out the street would be clean...streets can't be private property and these people take it 2 a whole other level last time someone actually put a chair where I shoveled!!! Are u in favor of the chairs?
I can tell you that I can understand why someone would put a chair on the road in front of their property. After the most recent snowfall I awoke to my neighbours car parked on the front of my property ,even though he has ample room in front of his own house to park there. The reason this annoys me is that the snowplow adds about an extra 6-8 feet in front of my property so they can clear his car.In order to keep the access to my driveway easier I must clear this extra snow. This extended wall of snow is also added to the end of my driveway. It certainly does not make for good neighbours especially when they make a comment like Oh well. I think that those people who park on the road during the period when the snowplow is clearing the street should be ticketed and /towed.If the existing bylaws were enforced there would be no need for chairs.
The way it works in my city in western PA is, if you shovel out the space in front of your house, you put a parking chair in it so people know it is one that someone has shoveled out for _their_ car. In this city, it is practically a crime to move someone's parking chair and park in that space. It is really asking for a lot of trouble in the neighborhood. Funny parking chairs story; A couple of snowy winters ago, the police in one suburb got totally fed up with the hordes of parking chairs in the community. So they picked up all the chairs and threw them in the community swimming pool. (Of course it had no water in it -- this was in winter, remember?) Anyway, people could come and get their chair, if they dared, but they also took a strong hint to ease up on the parking chairs.
unless the street parking is by permit only, the spots are public domain. Remove the chair, (it is like discarded goods) and park your car.
It's just a chair, move it out of the way. If they don't like it, too bad. If anything, they are commiting a crime by leaving debris in the road, possibly creating a hazard.
If its a public street I say move the chair park your car and take the chair inside and use it for guest if you don't accomplish much with the ********* who put it there at least it will make a funny conversation piece lol
