Question:

Are you suppose to put oil on your potatoes?

I just put 2 potatoes in my oven on aluminum foil and I was wondering are you suppose to spread olive oil on the potatoes? I'm like scared that my potato will catch on fireThe oven is on 420 degrees.

Answer:

It depends on how you like the skins on your baked potato: moist or crispy! Rub a little olive oil on them (covering all of the skins' surface) if you want them to stay more moist, but don't if you like more dry, crispy skinsOne thing you didn't mention (nor did anyone else) is that you need to poke holes in the potatoes to let them vent steam as they bakeTake a fork and stab each side of each potato a couple of timesThat's all it takesIf you don't they could explode and make quite a mess on the inside of the ovenThe aluminum foil you laid underneath the potatoes will catch any liquid that seeps/bubbles out of the holesGood luck!
