Question:

Automatic Transmission Fluid?

I bought a Toyota camry 2011 and I changed the Transmission fluid and the filter . Before changing , the fluid was dark and has a burn smell , after changing for 2 days the fluid came back dark and has a burnt smell . I dont know why !! someone told me that the clutch is died but I do not face any problems with the transmission .

Answer:

There is still some old fluid in the transmission it's best just to leave it that way on an transmission that had long overdue old fluid in it to avoid shock and failure from changing it with new fluid.
The black transmission fluid is an indication that at some point you may have overheated the transmission's internal clutches. The reason it was clear immediately after the change was because the new fluid had not mixed with the residual left in the torque convertor and lines. If it is operating properly now, I wouldn't worry about it. You might want to have it power flushed next time you change the fluid. Good Luck
I hate to tell you this but that transmission is going to die soon. It is the consensus that changing fluid in such a tranny will kill it in short order. If I were you, I'd dump in a couple of bottles of Lucas trans treatment. That may buy you more time.
