i dont know if they make them or what they are called, but im after a cable or conection so i am able to plug one end into my set top box, one end into my tv and one end into my dvd recorder. so it enables me to watch my set top box via my tv and also record it via my dvd recorder.or do i plug it my set top box into my av in and then put it to my dvd recorder via av out.

You may need two cables. The best system is to plug your set top into your DVD recorder, then plug your recorder into your TV. You will be able to watch your set top through the DVD and record it with the DVD. The cable you use depends on your hardware, but most of them will support an RCA cable (the one with three plugs). So, you plug the output of your set top into the input of your DVD recorder. Then the output of your DVD into the input of your TV. You control the set top as normal, and the signal goes through the DVD and is played on the TV as normal. And then you can record it as normal. If you have an HD TV, use an HDMI cable.
