I was amazon shopping for new bike rims and i came across one review that said it weighed 3lbs (being pretty heavy). I live in a place with a lot of hills and I read that wheel weight contributes to acceleration uphills. So what‘s the average weight of a 27in. road bike wheels?(Per wheel)Thanks in advance.
you will have to dig it. you wont be able to get 5/8 shark bite fittings, you should NEVER have solder connections under ground.you will probably have a hard time finding 5/8 copper fittings if you are going through the trouble of exposing the line I would change it to 3/4 inch.
Two ways come to mind. Either a compression union or a solder union. Both will work well but to install either you will have to dig up enough of the pipe to be able to cut and bend it up enough to slip the union inline. A small amount of the pipe will have to be cut out to allow for the center of the union.

acceleration is misleading it is TRUE but the thing people ignore is, once the wheel is accelerated, it stays in motion longer being heavier unless you use brakes, the energy into the wheel equals the energy out it isn;t lost you won;t find any light 27 wheels , they are obsolete convert to 700c if possible or quit trying for light wle
27 wheels haven't been seen on new road bikes for 20 years. Any wheels you see for sale will be made for older bikes, there is nothing high end that would be all that light. The only way to buy a lightweight 27 wheel would be to have them built as a custom item by a custom wheel builder. The other issue id tires. Since there is so little demand for 27 tires it would be hard to find lightweight tires. If your bike were able to accept 700c wheels you would have lots of choice. Keep in mind that lightweight wheels are expensive, figure on spending a minimum $500-$600. Really high end wheels sell for thousands of dollars per set. 3 pounds for a set of wheels is not very heavy, that would be less than 1400 grams which is very lightweight. Was that figure for a set, or for only one wheel?
