What are the axle rubber boots and whereabouts are they on the axle?
Axle rubber boots are those tubular black-ribbed-rubbers behind your tires' hub especially for front wheel drives. Rack and pinion steering also use rubber boots. They flex, expand or collapse depending on the cars direction. The main purpose of these are as dirt/dust cover for the axle. It prevents the axle from being contaminated with dust or small particles that could damage axle bearings.
Probably refering to the CV joint boots. Just on the back side of your front tires. (front wheel drive vehicles) Just a small rubber cup that wears out occasionally and lets in moisture and dirt.
look behind the wheels, and you will see them on the axles.why do you have to change them?ill give you a tip,if they are still good, spray some silicone spray on them,it will keep them soft and protect them from tearing.thats what i do and i havent had any trouble at all.
