Really cold here,Sometimes as low as 30's and can last a whileI'm looking for a really warm and sturdy blanket for my horsealso this is my first winter with A horse it snows here but not much or oftenCan I still ride her if I don't canter just walk/trot?thanks.
If Avery lives in a warm climate (for example, Florida) then the 30's might seem really chillyStill, I wouldn't put a heavy weight blanket on a horse if it was in the 30's UNLESS they where body clippedThe best blankets out there (both in quality, durability, and fit) are RambosThey are also the most expensive, but they last for YEARS and most of them have a 100% guaranteeYou can probably get away with a medium weight for most of the winter (that's what my wimpy TB wears all winter in Pennsylvania and he's happy as a clam)Just be consistent with your blanketingIf it's below a certain temperature make sure it is always on, if it is above a certain temp make sure it is always off Riding in the snow is a great workout for your horse! You're right to just stick to the walk/trot and make sure the ground is not icy or slipperyYour horse is going to have the most traction being barefoot; they also won't get those nasty snow clumps in their feet that horses with shoes tend to get.
Excuse me.do you work in this building? Where's a good place to sit and talk?
