Cat bed! My 11 lb mutt loves the cat bed I got her (and so do the cats). I think it was $10 at Walmart. Or, depending on the size of the dog, you could just get him a king-sized pillow. Those are usually around $10 too.
Go to a petstore that sells dog beds, put a few on the floor, and let him pick one he find comfortable. Just make sure the beds you let him try are in your price range. The pet stores here don't mind when you try them out.
Get a cat bed for him. It will be the exact right size.
whether you have a pure breed or in your case a mutt mix breed, is indifferent, just go to petco and get the one you like most. i prefer wooden basket types beds with a pillow inside, that way i just clean the pillow case.
