Question:

Best flooring for a bedroom?

I am about to redo the flooring in one of my bedrooms. I will be storing scuba equipment in this room and it will also be a computer room. What would be the best flooring to put in here. I don't think carpet , ceramic tile or hardwood floors would be a good choice because some of this equipment is heavy and could crack the ceramic tile and sometimes this gear may be a little bit wet so carpet is out .Any idea's?

Answer:

hardwood wouldnt be too bad as long as u dont leave excess amounts of water soaking over a long time causes the wood to rot... a little water will be okay
good thought!! i presently ripped up the carpet in my bedorom so i'm going to have the hardwood flooring for a similar reason(2 pets). I placed down a piece rug interior the places the place my bare ft could hit the floor and it works super.
How about a good vinyl floor covering ? I am using an Armstrong Congoleum product in a similar way and have had terrific results to date. Edit: Regarding wood......dampness and wood are not a good combo. If you're leaning that way, I'd consider a laminate.
If you use wood, get one of those computer desk mats that allow chairs to roll around on so the water doesn't affect it. But the tiles are pretty durable so if installed right they shouldn't crack unless you're dropping things on them which I assume you wouldn't do on purpose. But the wood would get dented if you dropped something on there. So whatever you're preference is go with it. just get some area rugs to soften noise.
You could do laminate flooring which is cheap and has many choices these days. Also you could add a rug after to give it a more warm feeling. This way you would have the softness of the rug with out it being damaged due to the scuba gear. This is assuming the gear would be in a closet and not in the middle of the room.
