Christian metal is pretty self-explanatory; it's heavy metal music with Christian-oriented lyrics. A couple of examples are Striper, Pillar and The Letter Black
Its also called heavenly metal or white metal. Its a branch of heavy metal that the lyrics talk about Christianity and its themes. The band members are also tied the faith. They are not necessarily heavily involved. It also tie has to other categories such as thrash and metalcore. Look at Stryper, Tourniquet (thrash metal), As I Lay Dying (metalcore). Its pretty much everywhere within metal. Just some more than others.
