Question:

Brake piston pushed too far out?

I went to change the brake pads on my motor cyclewhile i was doing it my little brother asked what i am doingi told him fixing the front breaks so he pressed them and now the piston is stucki was wondring if anyone had any advise on how to put the piston back in the cylinder

Answer:

It's called leverage, take a large slotted screwdriver and gently push the pad back in, helps to relieve some of the pressure by taking off the master-cylinder cap but make sure you don't apply too much force if you do it that way.
Banging it with a hammer?? How the hell did you get a hammer in between the pads to bang on it? If the piston has been fully pushed out of the caliper, it should still slip right back into it - unless the seals are jacked upyou know - from getting BANGED ON with a hammer!
The brake caliper has a nipple for bleeding brake fluid. Fit a piece of flexible tubing to the end of it, with the other end going into jar. Loosen the nut, and press the pads back into place. The pressure you exert will force fluid out the tubing. Tighten the nut before disconnecting the tubing so that air doesn't have the chance to get into the hydraulic system. A REALLY good practice is to always secure a block of wood between the brake lever and the handlebar so that this doesn't happen. Otherwise, this happens ALL the time: Even the person doing the brake work will do it--as riders, we get into the habit of grabbing the brake whenever we approach a motorcycle, just to steady it.
