Question:

Burned a gear on automatic transmission.?

I drive an automatic Acura. I recently discovered that I have been driving for a long time with low transmission fluid (ATF). Now my car stalls a lot and it goes on neutral and the D is blinking. I would have to completely stop the car, shut the engine off, then turn it back on again to drive it. But after some time, it would happen again. The shop told me that it‘s because I burned a gear, almost like burning a clutch for a manual transmission. Is there any way to fix this other than getting a new transmission?

Answer:

HI You did have the transmission refilled right? I think you have more problem than that. once a transmission starts slipping it well continue to slip. stopping and restarting the car would not make any difference unless maybe the fluid is still not full Maybe go by an auto parts store and ask if they would come out and check you transmission fluid for you as you don't know how. good luck but something sounds fishy.
