Hi my new computer's new power supply supports voltage from 100V - 240V. But the power cable's plug that came with it does not fit my country's. My country runs on 240V and the power cable that came with it says 10A 125V on it, and I THINK it's an U.S plug.So should I be getting a new power cable with higher max voltage or just a adapter so that the plug will fit?
my bf got an adapter and his computer got fried for some reason. to be safe i would get a new power cable, but make sure you talk to someone at the electronic store first.
Use adapter is ok. PSU of computer about 400-500W so u only need cable 5A 240v.
if you have a computer that is made to run on lower voltage and you use a different power cord or adaptor to run a higher voltage you going to blow it up. Call the computer manufacturer and see if it is compatible to higher voltage first.
It would be better to get a new power cable, if you get an adaptor the connection might not be as reliable as it could become loose and there would be two connections between computer and power.
If the power cord is rated 125v and you run 24v through it, it could fry everything. Call the manufacturer and get their recommendations.
