My understanding is that an HDTV is just the same as an LCD monitor, except it includes a tuner and some extra inputs, correct? 2. If I buy a monitor it will be native at 1920x1080 or higher, so there shouldn't be a noticeable difference in quality from an HD TV right?3. But, plasmas are able to achieve blacks much better than LCD screens. Another problem is that a plasma tv's bulb is typically non-replaceable, and when it goes out after, say 7 years or so, you are stuck having to buy a new television. I currently have a 32 inch Samsung HD LCD tv, which I have connected to my laptop through an HDMI port, and it works great. Connections on the back of HDTVs typically include a few HDMI ports, which gives you the true 1080p HD quality; a few component inputs, which will only give you the lesser 720p HD quality (1280x720). I suggest you connect your computer using the HDMI if possible, to get the best quality
