Question:

Buzzing on guitar strings when played open?

On my Epiphone Les Paul Studio all my strings buzz when they are played openThe strings buzz more when I play closer to the bridge, and the buzzing is lessened when I press on any of the fretsDoes anyone know the cause for this? and does anyone know how to fix this?

Answer:

The slots cut in the nut or in the saddles (or both) may be incorrectly angled.? The saddle slots may need to be dressed.? The nut slots may be a little too deep, causing a buzz against the 1st fret wire.?The truss rod may be vibrating due to a loose adjusting nut.? The string gauges may be too light and therefore too thin for the nut or saddle slots; light strings may also require a truss rod adjustment to correct insufficient neck reliefVarious pieces of hardware may be rattling, including springs in the bridge or pickup mounts, pickup selector when in Both position, and machine heads (tuners)Note:? For 1st fret string rattle, glue very thin hardwood veneer to the bottom of the nut, then sand it to about 1/64 in(about ?mm) thickness.? Install the nut, tune the guitar, and measure the heights of the E strings above the 1st fret wire.? Factory specs are 1/64 in(0.4mm) for the high E, and 2/64 in(0.8mm) for the low E.? Remove the nut and sand as needed to achieve the correct string heights.? Be sure to have a guitar tech or luthier set the neck relief beforehand.
Minerals are in food, water, and a lot of other stuff.
