Question:

can a bean plant with out light outgrow a bean plant with light?

and can a bean plant with out light even grow?

Answer:

A bean plant without light might outgrow one with light for a tiny bit, because it would still be desperately seeking light, and not think it's grown tall enough to get it yet. But a plant without light doesn't have any more energy than was contained in the seed, and until leaves are grown and they can receive light, the plant doesn't have the ability to make more energy (even if it's getting fertilizer and water). Without light, all plants are doomed to die, even though their seeds get them started.
