Question:

Can a plant use green light?

What would happen if you tried to grow a plant under a green light?

Answer:

Chlorophyl is the catalyst which converts light and carbon (from carbon dioxide) into sugar and carbohydrates. Chlorophyl is green because it reflects green light. So the plant would not get any energy from a green light, it would all get reflected. I have used Gro-Lights that were purple, and agro-lights that were redish purple. the red-purple agro lights were better. You can get agro-lites at any Agway store.
