Can Boilers Blow Up In Flames (10 Points)?

Answer:

There will be explosion of the furnace if it was fired with out purging., Pressure warts will not explode normally since there are many safety valves to blow off pressure excess.
If this boiler is boiling water, then it is very unlikely there will be any flames, seeing as how water is not a combustible material. If the boiler is boiling gasoline, then flames are a definite possibility.
Certainly boilers can blow up if the pressure is too high. But not in flames, which I assume means like a gasoline vapor explosion. I'm assuming this is a water/steam boiler. .
yes while water is not combustible, it is H2O hydrogen and oxygen. with fire it will blowup
The fire boxes can certainly blow up in flames that is why most modern boilers have burner management systems to assure that doesn't happen. The system monitors the burner flame and shuts down the fuel source if the flame goes out. It also will not let you light off the burner unless the firebox has been purged to eliminate any explosive mixtures. If a boiler is over pressured on the steam side, it is more likely to have a severe rupture of a tube or a steam drum but not what most people think of as an explosion.
