Question:

Can I charge a battery with a charger that has a higher voltage?

i have a 4.8 volt battery and i couldn't find the charger but, i found one that fitted the hole but the charger gave out 5 volts could i still use that charger to charge the battery?

Answer:

Remove the battery and charger/adapter, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to discharge any residual current. Replace the battery and charger/adapter and turn on.
you need to be very careful with that check what amperes the charger is giving out and what the laptop can handle it should say on the bottom usually on a sticker. if the amps are to high you could damage the system 5v in voltage terms isn't a big jump but i would recommend finding the correct charger just to make sure.
