I'd like to put this motor on my 13' Whaler. Is this very difficult and/or expensive? The motor has only the tiller controls. I have experience with OMC outboards only, so the Merc is all new to me.
converting an OMC or a Merc is fairly expensive and complicatedbut it can be done.
Yes this can be done. Like the other post stated it is fairly expensive. I helped a friend install and rig everything and it works great. Go through the Manufacture using the model number of your motor to find the correct parts that you will need. Then go to a dealership or aftermarket seller to save money purchasing what you need. Invite a friend over for the day to help you install everything, you will need an extra set of hands.
