if the snow storm has a power wind you have a chance of having your wipers blown off or bent.
Power wind doesn't bend wipers unless it's a tornado. Icy windshields, however break the drives on many wipers when they're stuck down by ice. Also, they are very ineffective when ice coated, even after being broken loose. Raising them does make sense.
Think this through , cars travels down the road between 60 and 80 mph on average and sometimes faster. That's comparable to the same wind speed. At these speeds and greater your wipers never fly off. Unless the winds are like a category 2 hurricane or better I wouldn't worry about your wipers flying off. Besides, if the wind is greater than a category 2 hurricane you've got more things to worry about than your wipers.
well you have that part right , but the thing is by lifting the wipers you are keeping them from frezing to the windshield and riping apart when you turn on your wipers
