Question:

can i dye a ddylon machine dye in a basin?

I bought dylon dye online and bought the wrong one. ;-) lol. I cant retern it as i waited a week for the dye and cant wait anyy longer to get dying. On the packet it say put dye, salt and item in the machine and wash. The thing is i have a really old machine and dont want to break it. And also i want to re dye it if it isnt nice. If i throw it into the machine and dont like it, well theres nothing i can do. So Could ius the machine one in a basin and let it soak. Will this work and if so Please inform me further. Lol :-):OB-)

Answer:

Dye or salt won't break your washing machine. You will need to run something through the wash after, with a little bleach, to get rid of the excess dye.
You can't dye anything by letting it just soak, you have to agitate the water, or the fabric will come out spotty. Sure, you can use the dye in a large basin, but you have to stir it frequently, so give yourself plenty of room and be careful not to splash.
