Question:

can I have live plants with my bearded dragon?

Can I have live plants with my beardie?? Thanks for the answers! Oh and is Vermiculite alright for him to live on?

Answer:

It does and it is just better off left alone. We tied to remove it on a job site and it was a nightmare with all the EPA permits.
Look up asbestos testing in your yellow pages or for your city on the internet.
Vermiculite is used to pour into cinder block walls and a blow in insulation for older homes that had none in the outer walls. It was on the market 15 or 20 years ago so I doubt very much if it had any asbestos in it. If you found it your local health Dept. or state building code inspector will inspect it but you may be sorry if they find it on (your property.)

If the vermiculite was installed post 1979 then it probably has no asbestos in it, and before that it -probably- does. You can get confidential testing online from labs for a small fee by sending them about a Tablespoon sample in a double ziplock bag. I paid $35 about 5 years ago to have my popcorn ceiling tested but sorry, can't remember the name of the lab, and now there are dozens.
