I'm making polymer clay stuff, so I'm wondering if it's safe to use aluminum foil in an oven. Also, what temperature should I put it on so the white clay stays white and doesn't turn tan?
Yes, metal { baking sheet , foil } is fine for the toaster oven just never put it in the microwaveCheck the directions on the clay package, and if it does turn tan perhaps you can paint it white .
you should not cover your bowl with foil if you are going to microwave itmetal causes fire in microwaveUse a dampened paper towel instead (you won't have to pierce through it, sorry) Ceramic bowls and most plastic containers are okay in the microwavePaper and some heavy duty plastic disposable ware are okay tooDO NOT put anything Styrofoam in microwaveThey will melt chemicals right into your food.
regular glass or ceramic bowl- probably the kind your family eats off of every day should be fineDon't put foil or any metal in the microwave- it interrupts the current and causes sparks- no buenoYou can cover the bowl with a paper towel so nothing spattersDon't feel bad asking- when I moved out and got my 1st kitchen, I swear I called home every 3 days with these little questionsYou might want to spend the next year learning more about the kitchen so you'll be set when you move out!
