Question:

can I use an oil additive inA new toyota yaris ?

particularly an additive called Prolong ?

Answer:

If it is new and a Toyata its gonna last forever anyway!!! Save your money! You don't need an oil additive. Just change oil every 3,000 miles and it will go forever!!!
Don't waste your money on that crap. Toyota makes fantastic engines that are built to last without oil additives. Just change your oil with according to your owner's manual. I guarantee you Toyota Motor Co. is not going to recommend the use of an oil additive.
no. those things make the oil flow down into the oil pan. you actually want oil to stick to the metal. it's better when you start the engine. If you want to get the best oil for your engine. Just do what I do and use full synthetic. just use the proper oil weight (usually 5W-XX) that they say to use in the owners manual. Syn doesn't break down at high temps and it lasts 5 times longer than the natural oil. Many people just change the oil filter and just add more syn oil. don't waste you're money on syn blend, either use the all natural oil or the all syn. If you use the blend then you still have oil that will break down just as fast as it would be if it was all natural oil. I own a toyota celica and I use syn and nothing else. tom
