Question:

can i use sodium carbonate for pools in my dirt?

I am planting blueberries and they need high pH. If i have a low pH, can i use this for the dirt? The ingredients are 98% sodium carbonate. I think this chemical does the same in dirt but wanted to make sure? please help

Answer:

No - most plants don't like sodium and the pH is too high. Hydrated lime Ca(OH)2 or limestone CaCO3 or dolomite Ca/Mg CO3 are used to raise soil pH
