Can I wear one as long as I wear safety glasses/goggles? I want to do The Town with one side police, the other side the bank robbers.
Sharkbite fittings do go by nominal sizes. Copper is sized nominal. PVC however is sized by iron pipe size, (IPS). A 1/2 copper pipe should have fit into a 1/2 sharkbite. They do here in New Mexico anyway. I have repaired a few 1/2 iron pipe leaks using a 3/4 sharkbite as one of the fittings. Don't like doing it, but sometimes when weighing all sides, you do what you have to do for the customer.
I would say that is about right for a house that size. He should look at energy efficient appliances, furnace and A/C (look at high efficiency heat pumps with a payout of 5 to 7 years), light bulbs, auto off motion detectors for some rooms, insist on shutting off lights, computers, TVs any time the room is empty. Make sure outside lights are really needed. May take a bit of stern discipline of everybody in the house. Caulk around windows and doors, install thermopane windows and sliding doors. Also add insulation and have the gas or electric company do an energy audit for other items.
