Question:

Sony Video8 Handycam CCD-FX340 NTSC, tape problem.?

I have a Sony Video8 Handycam CCD-FX340 NTSC.It will not accept a tape. I can hit the eject button and the tape mechanism will come up and pop open. If I close it without a tape, it will go back down. If I put a tape in and close it, I can hear some motors spinning for a few seconds, and then the tape mechanism pops back open.I have tried several different tapes with the same results.

If the burner parts such as air intake flue, heat chamber/exchanger etc are in good shape, there is no danger to you. You're just in danger of being cold: trying to keep warm from the tiny bit of heat that rises thru the ducts not only won't do it in really cold weather, but you are wasting a LOT of fuel. Up to the landlord to call in the repairman and fix the blower.
The heater will not put out enough heat once the weather gets colder but that is the least of your worries. That safety that the unit is cycling on, wasn't made for that kind of a load, it is going to stick, either fuse together in the on position or just pop and stay off eventually. If it sticks in the on position, and that furnace just keeps running without that blower, the heat is going to be too much for that box and your going to have a fire. It is very dangerous.
