Ever since I saw the movie Sweet Home Alabama, Ive always wondered if lightning really turns sand into glass when it hits it. If you haven't seen the movie, a guy puts these long metal rods into the sand on a beach during lightning storms. When the lightning hits the rods, it turns the sand into molten glass which hardens into clear glass shaped like little forks of lightning. Is this possible?
The most obvious would be the batteries are low. . Time to replace them. IF that doesn't stop the beeping you may need a new Fire Alarm. Is your Fire Alarm the kind that is battery only or is it Hard wired into the electric? If you have the kind that is hardwired to the electric you may have a short from a power surge. I had one that started beeping every 30 to 60 seconds after a big storm and it just kept doing it. It would quit then at 3am the next morning beep beep beep. I had to call the maintance man and have it replaced. The crazy thing was still beeping while it was laying outside on the side walk in the rain 30 minutes after the guy took it down. Finally had to take the battery out to shut it up. Mine was the kind that is wired into the electric with a battery back up.
Same thing happened to me!! I got a bit scared really at first because I wasn't sure were the sound was coming from I took them down, took out the batteries.. but haven't had time to change them yet so the plus side is that it stopped beeping the crap side is that if there is a fire I'm screwed until I get off my a.ss and get some batteries :)
