If I want to smoke a hookah in my dorm room I want to take all of the proper precautions. I plan on having a two fans, one blowing out of the window and one in the hallway sucking in room from the hallway. The hallway in my room is separated from the main hallway by a big wooden door. I plan on stuffing a towel under it. My room mate is cool with it and wants too additionally. I read that some of the high tech smoke detectors in dorm rooms and actually detect if the alarm is covered with a plastic bag. Is this true?

Actually you just voided your warranty. You will have to pay now to get it fixed. You can try replacing the screen but its 50/50 that it may or may not work.

If you do not know the source of the fire, the blanket is best. If the fire were burning grease, water or the wrong extinguisher could spread the fire. The blanket keeps oxygen out and gives the fire no where to go.
try getting your fingers hot or grease from like your face oils sometimes the heat detector needs a little extra to get it to move. trust me i dropped mine in the pool and the same thing happened, and it still works
