Can vermiculite fertilize any seed?
I prefer to use Perlite, but vermiculite works as well. You can also order a new product called, Hatchrite that is supposed to be damp and ready to go.....but I haven't used it personally. Whichever medium you choose, make sure it is damp enough to clump together when squeezed tightly in your hand, but not wet enough so that water will drip out when squeezed. At one time, they had issues with asbestos-not glass dust-in vermiculite, but that is no longer a problem. Both vermiculite and Perlite are commonly available WITHOUT additives, all you have to do is look. Check with ANY reputable breeder, and they will tell you the same. I have used Perlite since I began raising reptiles, and it has worked wonderfully.
Hatchrite is good but pricey. Vermiculite has glass dust in it--both perlite and vermiculite bags have chemicals in them to help plants grow. Your best bet, since beardies are desert dwellers, is sand. It would be best to check online and consult with some breeders to see what they suggest. Get more than one opinion.
use vermiculite. do some research, theres tons out there on incubating dragon eggs.
