I know that we should never use Type A (water) extinguishers to extinguish type BC fire such as electric oily fires, but is it ok the other way around i.e. to use Type BC extinguishers for Type A fires e.g. paper, wood, furniture ect.

If you felt as though you had enough time to grab things get the most valuable. But most important thing is family and documentation and money I'd say. and then whatever you can grab worth risking your life for!
It is my understanding that the law has little or nothing to do with public safety. Its purpose is to require equal treatment for both sexes. When ONLY women and not men are pressured to cover their faces, their hair, even their entire bodies, a statement is being made about the unequal place of women in society. The French are trying to get people to live in the 21st century, not 500 years ago.
ONLY allow your son to do it if the action is normal for the present conditions. So, if your son wants to pull the fire alarm during a fire, why not? Any normal child would want to so. Even I, actually, would love to do so. Okay. So you think your son has to tell you in the correct way, asking for permission for him to do it. What the heck. The fire alarm has no practice. It only goes once. Save the lecture for some other drama later and watch him have fun. Don't forget to run! Don't forget your son!
