Having a BBQ today, and my friends asked me to make red potatoes on the grillUsually I slice them, some onion, and toss them in EVOO and spices, wrap them in foil packets and cook them on the grillWhat I'm wondering is if anyone knows if I could use an aluminum foil roasting pan, the disposable kind, cover that with foil, and cook them on a gas grill that way? Would be faster, and I wouldn't have a bunch of foil packets to cookThanks.

Sure, that will workMy brother makes peppers and onions in a foil pan on the grill when he's cooking carne asada - works great This may not be appropriate for your BBQ today - for space/attention reasons - but for really amazing potatoes on the grill - try using either small potatoes or cutting up larger ones (waxy potatoes, not russets) so they are bigger than the spaces in the grillThrow them in a plastic bag and microwave them until they are starting to cookPut some salt, pepper and olive oil in the bag and shake it upThen grill the potatoes DIRECTLY on the grillCook them until they brownI just started doing this last year and can kick myself for having missed out on these until now.
