Question:

Can you deny press the right to use your name?

Like newspaper articles. They can't legally identify you in a widely circulated publication withouf your permission can they? The government doesn't protect press, can you sue a newspaper if they DO print your name without permission?

Answer:

No. You can't deny the press the use of your name. If, for instance, you appear in a court of law for some matter, the press have access can publish your name. Sometimes the court will supress a persons name if the press go ahead defy that suppression ban, they can be charged with contempt of court. But imagine if the press had to seek permission to publish anyone's name..............what about sporting events? What about celebrities? Missing persons? The list goes on on. It wont happen.
I think they can print anything about anyone over 18 unless forbidden to do so by a court. But of course they are subject to libel laws so under normal circumstances would be discrete. Look how they follow round the pop singers and famous people.
