Can you get busted by law for not having any smoke detectors in your house?
First NATURE didn't cause these fires, at least one of them was arson. I live near these fires, luckily by the beach, so I don't have a lot of worry about our area going up in flames. Californians know we always have an October heatwave, and with that commonly comes the Santa Ana winds. These winds are very dry, very warm, humidity is down to zero, and it's always when we are most vulnerable for fires. There are too many wackos out there that just love this time to set fire to something. We have to live with it, just like we live with earthquakes and others live with hurricanes, tornados, extreme snow, etc. If we just let it burn itself out where would it stop? The forest areas would all burn - no more Yosemite National Forest, no more giant redwoods - the fire would continue on to the homes in it's path, and if we didn't fight them, all of California would burn up all the way to the sea, and into Arizona, Nevada and Oregon. I just don't see that as a viable option. As far as offering people to relocate to another state that has more rainfall? Well, California wasn't always this bad as far as low rainfall. We have had a couple years here where we haven't had nearly enough rain. That doesn't mean I want to move! We live in California for a reason. You're young and idealistic, so I cannot get upset at you for your idea of letting us burn ourselves out. It's just not an option. Just my opinion a native Californian. P.S. Everyone can help by donating blood! Call your local Red Cross and help. Thanks!
You make a valid point. Most of the big fires are a result of fire management that allows brush to build up for years. For the most part the burn areas are desert foothills not suitable for agriculture. Using your logic “nature uses fire…” would you agree that nature uses floods, tornados, hurricanes, droughts and earth quakes so why not let all buildings be destroyed?
A wildfire can be indeed seen as the nature trying to claim its land back It is true that they should stop building houses so close to beaches, cliffs, forests, etc
Sounds Great! Why don't we show the same compassion to people who lost there homes in New Orleans from Katrina, building a house below sea level, serves then right, and people in Florida from hurricanes, and other parts of California from earthquakes. While were at it, lets screw the people in the Midwest when the next big tornado blows all that they have away. And the Yankee's up north after then awfully deep snow storms. And the Indonesian people after the tidal wave washed into there lives, and people starving in Somalia, there gonna die anyhow, no since in prolonging the inevitable. Idiots should have been born somewhere else. Mother Nature needs a good cleansing every now and then. Oh ya, did ya'll know all this was Bushes fault to?
If you mean acrylic resin, then you may need to order it online. You may check a local hardware store. Whatever you are using for a mold, you will need to use a mold release, which can be a silicone spray. If the mold is a permeable material, then you may want to shellac it first, let it dry and then spray your release agent.
