Question:

Can you help with this windshield wiper problem?

We had ice overnight and, though I didn‘t think I did anything wrong (using them when they were still iced up), apparently I did. My wipers work, but when I turn them off, they go to the complete opposite place of where they should. They stop with both right in front of the driver, sticking almost straight up the windshield. They work fine, they wipe my windshield, but they stop in the fully extended position when I turn them off. I hope I explained this clearly. If so, can you advise on the problem? Thanks!

Answer:

Ummm if u want u can try putting some oil where ur wiper is attached at it's base, maybe it needs some sort of lubrication, if this doesn't work then try wat No It all Mr. K advised I say oil for starters coz if it's gonna help then better try that option first before going thru the losening and tightening up ordeal.
the gear attached to the wiper motor stripped a bit and now is not in the correct position when wipers are parked. What you need to do is open the hood and find the wiper motor, disconnect the metal arm that connect to the wiper motor, with the key on and the wiper switcherd on, let it run for a second and leave the switch for the wiper on, but turn the ignition key off, reconnect the wiper bracket and power it all up and see what happens, you need to use the ignition key and a bit of genuis timing to switch it off at the right time, be patient and w/ taking off and putting on the wiper braket while using the ignition on/off you'll figure it out in no time,,,, make sure when you got it locked in that the wiper bracket on the motor is good and tight,,,,next clear your window withand ice scraper and brush not the wiper ya dummy!!!!!!!!!!! good luck
Very simple fix, at the base of the wiper blade arm, where it spins on the axises, there is a bolt or fastener of some sort. Loosen this fastener and bring your wiper back the the place you want, tighten the screw and there you have it.
