Question:

Can you plug a motorcycle tire?

I just bought a new rear tire for my 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 600. Last night I noticed it was nearly flat. After inspection I found a small nail near the top of the tire (about an inch from the top to be exact). The nail is not on the side of the tire. Can I get a plug for the tire?

Answer:

I bought a Trek SU200 for my girlfriend. Not a woman specific bike and it's an Urban bike but you could ride this over any thing so long as it's not ultra muddy or snow covered. A real solid ride for the money!
Some things just do not go together no matter how hard you try. Just like oil and water do not mix, quality and low price don't either. You have to decide which is more important to you, quality OR low price because you cannot have both. Unfortunately, many people choose low price over quality these days and stores like WalMart are proof of that. Manufacturers with good reputations for quality now produce low end poor quality lines and sell them through major retail outlets. They are not the quality on which they built their reputations but they do it to compete. When it comes to bikes, cheap will cost you more in the long-run than quality. Many bike shops won't even work on bikes from big retail outlets because they are junk and cost more to fix than to buy new.
I am so sick of the high maintenance costs of motorcycles. sure my bike gets great mileage, but my goodness, chains replacing, valves adjusted, tires that only last 10k miles, and now I learn if you get a nail in your tire and you can't plug it, and a NEW TIRE is your only option?? I'm thinking of hanging up riding for good.

DO NOT PLUG OR PATCH MOTORCYCLE TIRES. In an emergency its ok to get you off the road or something, but the only fix for a motorcycle tire with a hole, is getting a new tire. Would you risk your life on a $2.00 plug? I know I wouldnt.
