Answer:

Mileage is very reasonable. What about the general condition.? If you can't find any problems, you might try an offer of 8 or 10% less. Make shure you drive the car for at least 1/2 hour around town and out on the freeway to uncover any strange symptoms. These hard times with a national recession in place makes for used car sales to be very challenging.
The main thing to look for is the ET or offset in millimeters (marked on the inside of the rim). All Mercs have the same bolt/lug pattern but some models offsets can cause the wheel to be pushed out to far near the lip of the wheel well and rub when you hit bumps. You can usually go 2 over the original rim size with stock suspension, and change to lower profile tire to compensate for the larger diameter to have an accurate speed on the speedo. Any larger size rims you'll probably have to stiffen the spring rate in the suspension to prevent rubbing.
There are so many wheels available for MBz, you could never get mixed set of wheels to fit both the front and rear of a C230 to fit on a C240. There are too many variables, from wheel diameter, to wheel offset, to tire size, to aspect ratio, to MS to Winter and All Weather types. You might find that 2 tires fit ok on the rear wheels, but not on the front. If the tires are just one size too large you may not be able to clear the steering knuckles. If you have a TIRE RACK near you, you might be wise to inquire about what they have to fit your cars.
