tell me some epic metal songs....
It's a sub-genre of heavy metal. Death metal may include violent or dark lyrics which focus on death as a nihilistic metaphor(Although, many do not) chromatic chord progressions and a varied song structure without a standard verse-chorus arrangement.
Heavy Metal times two. Listen to Future Breed Machine (Mayhem Version) by Mesuggah to get a good feel of it.
Death Metal grew out of thrash metal in the late 80's except throw in some gritty lyrics of morbid obsession, death, pain, suffering, blah blah blah. Speed up the tempo sing with loud inaudible lyrics. Talk about raping dead babies, wear nothing but black and smell like $hit. Have album art of hell and death. Maybe throw in some stage antics with fake sacrifices and fake blood. Then boom you have a metal band, in other words an excuse of for not being able to actually play. It's a formula like anything else anymore.
Death metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal. The production is very heavy with a thick guitar and bass sound. Songs are usually very fast with aggressive riffs and complex arrangements. Vocals are harsh and can range from fairly discernable throaty style to a nearly uncomprehensible growl. Even within death metal, there are many variations. Some bands are more melodic, technical, brutal, etc. Death metal grew out of thrash metal in the mid 80s and basically the difference is thrash is rawer and death metal is heavier and more aggressive. Examples of death metal bands: Possessed, Morbid Angel, Death, Vader, Nile, Amon Amarth
Makes Metallica look like kiddie metal.
