car alarmglass breaking sensors?

i have an aftermarket alarm on my car and just recently had my window smashed open. it didnt even go off! what are glass breaking sensors? should i add them to my current alarm? can i also make my alarm be more sensitive so it will go off if someone taps the car? ive seen this remote with a pic of a car and it blinks and sounds and shows u where the car was touched.

The best IR detectors are currently semiconductors with an energy bandgap in the IR range. This is small, so heat makes a lot of electrons flow between the conduction and Valence bands; you really have to cool them down to make them work well. (often to very cold: liquid nitrogen type temps) Pyroelectric sensors can also work, but they're much grainier. This is a fundamental limit of our materials; given my current knowledge of solid state physics I'd guess that we would have to have a separate IR detector that wirelessly transmits the info to the lenses. I could be completely wrong, this is taken from the half a degree level course I've done in condensed matter physics. Maybe the second half will have an explanation of a way around this. :)
The infrared scene in front of you must be converted to a visible-light image, and you must be able to focus that image on your retina. With goggles, the image is a couple inches away from your eye, and you are able to focus on it because the goggles contain special reading glasses. Conceivably, someone may someday invent a holographic contact lens which presents an imaginary 3D image where you can focus on it. That technology is probably decades into the future.
