Question:

cell phone charger??

if you leave your cell phone charger in any outlet of your house, and your phone is not connected to the charger, does the charger draw power from the outlet? or not? just a random question. -.- please answer with factsm not oppions. easy 10 points here :) thanks all!

Answer:

Actually no, you can consider this as an extension, you need a common cable and a positive connected in order to use the electricity. So, consider the charger as a common cable and the phone as positive, and it will draw electricity only when connected, hope this help.
Yes, indeed it does, if the device has an external transformer. This is true with many devices today, especially mobile phones. For example, the part you plug into the wall that your USB cable (in newer phones) plugs in to is actually a transformer. Transformers that have power supplied to them will use electricity whether there is a load (such as your phone) or not. Read up a bit on how transformers work and you may understand this better using the provided sources.
