would my mud/snow stock off road tires get better mileage for a tacoma if i got street tires? and the ride would be smoother and quieter as well correct?
the rolling resistance of the tire will determine the effect on gas milage. rolling resistance will be determined by tread configuration as well as the inner tire construction (how the internal cords are run). Noise will be affected by the hardness of the rubber as well as tread configuration. the tread will also affect the breaking abilities on the street. you may want to get a second set of rims so you can have on road and off road tires mounted at the same time and switch back and forth. you can usually find reasonably priced used rims at a salvage yard.
An SUV type tire with a highway oriented tread pattern will typically have less rolling resistance than a AT ot MT tread pattern tire, which can improve fuel economy. A typical example would be the Michelin Cross Terrain which is a popular OE fit due to its relatively low rolling resistance which gives the vehicle manufacturer better CAFE numbers. How much improvement is hard to say until you fit them and try them out. Noise and ride quality should improve too with an SUV tire as well as braking and cornering performance on pavement. Some auto manufactures put a little cover over a switch next to the shifter that when pressed with a pen, allows you to take the car out of park to move the car without starting it or a dead battery. I'm sure Benz thought of this too.
I know they do this kind of stuff on a daily base's,All there thinking about is getting the car from point A to point B at any cost.If your car is rear wheel drive then he could have unhook the drive shaft and the car would have rolled right off the tow truck.
The ride would definitely be quieter. The gas mileage is affected more by making sure that the air pressures are correct, and that you use the correct size every time.
