I have a Sony HDR-CX150 and the USB cable to go along with it. I was wondering if I could plug the cable into my iPod wall charger or LG EnV3 wall charger and safely charge the handycam. If it is not safe, why? Thanks!
A charger is set up to deliver the energy at a frequency ideal for the electronics in question. This can be anywhere between 1.5 volts to 12 and even 18 volts. If one electronic is set up to receive juice at 4.5v and the second electronic is set up to receive juice at 9v, you will fry the 4.5v electronic device by plugging it into the 9v charger. You'll kill the electronics this way. This is why chargers are not universal. On the back of all the electronic devices and chargers if you look at it can be found a volt measurement of the charger and of the electronic device. Hope this helps.
