I was wondering if I were to buy a cheap cold air intake from ebay but replaced the filter with a performance one (K N filter), would it virtually be the same thing as an expensive CAI? I understand that it wouldn‘t be as pretty in regards to looks, welding, etc., but I was just curious if i would still see the slight boost in HP, MPG, and still get that great CAI sound. Or has anyone had any experience with a cheap CAI? Any input would be great. Thanks.
I have used them with good results. I think the main difference is that the more expensive kits route the filter to a better location to pick up colder air. The best gain is when you get better air flow and cooler air.
