Question:

Cheap Guinea Pig bedding?

I need somewhere to order big amounts of cheap guinea pig bedding. I tried using fleece, towels, newspaper etc but they just continue to smell and are a pain. I prefer using aspen, woodchips or some kind of bedding. I have a big (2x5 foot) cage with 3 guinea pigs. Bedding from the pet store for an appropriate size costs $20. That's like $20 a week! Way too expensive. Is there any farms or websites you know that sell CHEAP bedding? PLEASE help.

Answer:

On amazon, they have really cheap bedding. Just search guinea pig bedding, and something along the lines of aspen bedding, 8 cubic feet will be there. (the picture looks like a big brown paper bagish thing.) It lasts, like, 4 months. :)
You can get hardwood stove pellets. I get 40 pound bags for $4 at menards. You can get them at other stores just make sure they don't have any accelerants. The only issue with pellets is they are hard on a guinea pigs feet. You will need to put hay or something soft over them or at the very least a soft bed to sleep in.
You can make your own bedding! Just go on YouTube and search how to make carefresh bedding and your set :)
3 guinea pigs is bound to stink, regardless of what bedding you use, you need to clean it atleast two times a week by that i mean change the bedding etc, and spot cleaning everyday.
