first your scent is highly concentrated on your shoes and clothes. Think of a hound dog and how it gets your scent. Its a comfort thing for them. my cat always sleeps on my husband jacket as soon as he puts it down. Second in the wild cats sleep,eat, hunt, etc.. up in trees for safety. It was bred into them instinctively to be up high. ( although i do have one who's afraid of high places.)
